Te Kākano

All new entrants start in Te Kākano – one of our innovative learning hubs. Te Kākano hub is made up of 3 interconnected rooms where children and teachers can move through the spaces forming small groups for guided learning.

Akoranga

We promote a playful approach to learning. This enables our tamariki to become creative, innovative and critical thinkers. We provide strong foundation learning in literacy and numeracy, and our children’s progress is tracked closely by our teachers and Leadership team.

Preparing your child

There are things you can do as a parent/caregiver to help your child with the transition into school:

  • Talk about school in a positive way (what they can look forward to, how exciting it will be, making new friends, meeting their new teachers etc)
  • Visit the school grounds to familiarise your child with the environment
  • Encourage independence (dress themselves for swimming, pack and unpack their bag etc.)
  • Arrange a school visit to meet with Sarah Morris (principal) and the Te Kākano teaching team. Contact us to set this up.
  • Let your child know that they will be paired up with a buddy from the senior school. This approach enables new students to learn about Frankley and make friends.
